Annual Scholarships are awarded by AFCC (International) and AFCC-O (Ontario Chapter) to selected applicants to subsidize attendance at their conferences. Preference for scholarships is given to AFCC/AFCC-O members, although anyone may apply. If you are not a member and would like to join, please refer to Benefits of AFCC Membership on AFCC’s website, and click on Join Today. Please remember to add the AFCC Ontario Chapter to your membership when you register. All Ontario Chapter memberships are managed through the AFCC website.
Scholarship recipients are not the only beneficiaries of AFCC-Ontario and AFCC (International) scholarship funds. Colleagues and courts in their communities, as well as children and families enmeshed in conflict, also benefit. Scholarship recipients take advantage of networking opportunities and state-of-the-art training that are the hallmark of all AFCC conferences. Scholarship recipients include parenting coordinators, child custody evaluators, court services personnel, social workers, lawyers, mediators, graduate students and others who work with children and families.
AFCC scholarships include but are not limited to: Conference registration fees, welcome reception, awards luncheon, annual banquet, and certificates of attendance. AFCC International Conference Scholarships: AFCC offers a scholarship for attendance at the AFCC (International) annual conference. One may apply for this scholarship through the AFCC website to attend AFCC’s 56th Annual Conference, on May 29 – June 1, 2019, “The Future of Family Justice: International Innovations” in Toronto, ON, Canada. The application for the 56th Annual Conference can be found at this link AFCC 56th Conference Scholarship Application. Scholarship recipients are notified six to eight weeks before the event.

Criteria for Applying: The following criteria of candidates applying for AFCC or AFCC-O scholarships is taken into consideration:
Prior Conference Attendance: Preference is given to applicants who have never attended an AFCC conference.
Prior Scholarship Recipient: Due to the substantial increase in the number of applications, those who have received an AFCC scholarship in the past five years are not eligible.
Additional Funding Support: Because of the increased need for support, the selection committee asks if an employer or other source may provide additional funding.
Financial Need: Personal financial need of the applicant is a major consideration of the committee.
Relevance of Organization/Practice: The relevance of the applicant’s organization/practice to AFCC’s mission is considered. AFCC’s mission statement can be found at www.afccnet.org/about/mission.asp.
