Mission Possible: Responses to Difficult Client Positions

By Kimberly Brown

  •  May 9, 2019
     5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Offered by the Association of of Family and Conciliation Courts, Ontario Chapter and Kent Law Association

For practitioners within the family justice and child protection systems, knowing the “law” is merely half the battle. Helping clients to move away from what they want and towards what they and their children need can be the more challenging task. There is often a tension between supporting our clients and providing sound advice. However, we achieve our best win-win when litigants, kin and the Society devise reasonable, realistic and child-focussed plans for placement and access.  This session will focus on the difficult conversations we may need to have before our clients can engage in meaningful dispute resolution.

Keynote Speaker: Andrea Himel, LLB, MSW, AccFM & CPMed (OAFM)

Commentaries from: Dr. Dan Ashbourne, C.Psych, Executive Director LFCC; and Justice Gerri L. Wong, Ontario Court of Justice-Chatham

Co-moderators: Jotan Foster, LLB; and Maggie Vicente, LLB

Registration fee:  $15.00
