Location: Northern Water Sports Centre, 206 Ramsay Lake Road, Sudbury, ON P3E 5J1
The program will focus on the significant changes to Ontario’s child welfare legislation with a focus on provisions relating to First Nation, Métis and Inuit families, the increased importance placed on the views of a child and new legal tests under the CYFSA with practice tips on the advice to give to clients.
Attendees will be better prepared to understand the unique experience of their Indigenous clients which will enhance their ability to apply the new provisions of the CYFSA to their practice.
Attendees will also gain an enhanced understanding of the importance of listening to and considering a child’s views on a child protection file.
Finally, participants will learn how Alternative Dispute Resolution options in child protection matters can try to reduce delay and provide culturally appropriate resolutions for children and families.
